Texas HHS Licensed Child Care — daycare facility locations
NOAA ASOS stations — prevailing wind direction data
Chemical Exposure Index (CEI)
CEI = Σ (annual_air_emissions_lbs × toxicity_weight / distance_miles²) for all TRI facilities within 5 miles. A higher CEI indicates greater modeled exposure potential. This is a screening-level index, not a health risk assessment.
Exposure Tiers
Critical: CEI > 50,000
High: CEI > 10,000
Medium: CEI > 1,000
Low: CEI > 0
None: No TRI facilities within 5 miles
Wind Corridors
Arrow overlays show prevailing wind direction at the nearest NOAA ASOS weather station, indicating the primary direction chemical emissions travel from each major industrial cluster.
Limitations
TRI data reflects self-reported releases and may undercount actual emissions. The CEI does not account for chemical mixtures, meteorological dispersion, or indoor-to-outdoor air exchange. Distances are straight-line (Euclidean), not road distances.
